Getting there

Bus — Direct 'Amakusa-go' highway bus from Kumamoto Station or Sakuramachi Terminal to the Matsushima area, about 1h15min (longer services continue to Hondo, further south, up to 2h45min); 15 departures a day. There's no long-distance train here: the only JR line in the area (the Misumi Line) ends at Misumi port, before the Amakusa Five Bridges.
